The Church is the recreation center of the block, where people get together, talk about things in life and worship the god. The people of the church form a small group for socializing purpose. Normal churches usually have Sunday School, which put kids together and teach them about the Bible and sing the religious songs. Moreover, bachelor clubs also exist to allow everyone expand his/her network by getting new friendship.
If the seniors or children from the neighborhood are sick, the other people will send food to the family of the patients for wishes and help. Sometimes, the church also organizes activities such as BBQ party, dancing and sport etc.
To most American, Church is part of their life, which of course must be existed in the neighborhood. However, Buddish temple is different. People from the neighborhood normally will not gather in the temple for socializing, or chating. In addition, there is no monks will organize activities such as ball games, traveling or dancing for the neighbodhood.
